Research study looking at emotional factors and brain functioning that may be related to eating and/or weight status in children.
Study Purpose |
This study is designed to help understand how children regulate their emotions and whether this is related to their weight status or eating behavior. This may help us develop more effective interventions for children struggling with their eating and weight. |
Study Design |
All eligible participants will be involved in an initial consenting and assessment session at the Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center. During this visit participants will have their height and weight measured and complete questionnaires and a semi-structured interview. At a second visit, participants will be asked to come to Brown University for an fMRI session during which they will view different pictures while undergoing an MRI scan. |
Study Requirements |
To be eligible for this study, you must be between the ages of 10 and 17, able to read and understand English fluently, and not currently pregnant. Additionally, you must be willing and able to undergo a 1-hour MRI scan. |
Study Duration |
Two 2-3 hour clinic visits. |
