6-Month Technology-Based Behavioral Weight Loss Program

Study Purpose |
To determine whether new technology-based tools enhance the weight losses produced by a well-validated online behavioral weight loss program. |
Study Design |
All eligible participants who complete the enrollment and assessment procedures will be given access to 6-months of an Internet-based weight loss program at no cost. Two-thirds of participants will also receive a graph charting their weight loss progress, and one-third of all participants will receive a wrist-worn device designed to help them lose weight. Participants will have their height and weight measured, and they will wear an armband physical activity monitor for 7 days. They will also complete questionnaires at the start of the study and again 3 and 6 months into the study. Compensation for these visits will be provided. |
Study Requirements |
To be initially eligible for this study, you must be between the ages of 18 and 70. Your body mass index must fall within the overweight or obese range. You must be able to attend visits at the Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center in downtown Providence, Rhode Island every week.
