Jason Lillis, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Brown Alpert Medical School and a clinical psychologist at the Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center of The Miriam Hospital. His primary interests include weight-related stigma, the role of experiential avoidance in weight-related problems, and using acceptance and mindfulness strategies to improve weight loss and maintenance. Dr. Lillis is also an internationally recognized trainer and a leading researcher of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He has written one book on ACT and published numerous scientific articles on applying ACT to weight loss. Dr. Lillis received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford University School of Medicine in 2008.
