Internet-based weight loss program with on-site weight maintenance workshop.
Study Type |
Internet-based weight loss program with on-site weight maintenance workshop. |
Study Purpose |
Healthy For Life is a research study designed to help people lose weight and keep it off. Specifically, we are testing test two state-of-the art interventions designed to help individuals maintain weight loss for longer. |
Study Design |
The study happens in two phases. Everyone who is eligible will be enrolled in a 12-week, internet-based weight loss program designed to help you change your exercise and eating habits. You will be given a calorie and physical activity goal during the program. You will log onto a website to view weekly lessons and report your calorie intake and exercise minutes. This program is packed with the latest scientific advances in weight loss and has been proven to help people lose weight. Access to the internet and a computer is required. If you complete the internet-based program and lose at least 5% of your starting weight, then you will automatically move on to phase 2 of the study. In phase 2 we are testing new, cutting edge workshops designed to help people maintain the behavioral changes they make to help them continue to lose weight and keep it off. This is the most important aspect of the study, as you may know that keeping weight off is difficult. Please DO NOT enroll in the study unless you are willing to come to our center in Providence for a 1-day workshop designed to help you maintain behavior changes and weight loss. |
