Exercise Study

12-week exercise training program for women

Study Type
Exercise training study
Study Purpose
To examine the relationships between exercise, eating, and how one feels.
Study Design
If eligible you will be randomly assigned to either a 12-week exercise condition or 12-week delayed exercise condition. Both groups will have the opportunity to receive an exercise training program which gradually progresses to 200 minutes/week of moderate-intensity exercise. Some of the exercise will be performed at our center and the rest will be performed on your own. The program is provided at no cost to you. You will also be asked to complete assessments of fitness, body composition, and answer surveys on your smartphone and computer at various time points throughout the study. Compensation will be provided for these assessments.
Study Requirements
To be eligible, individuals must be female, overweight (BMI: 25-40 kg/m2), between the ages of 18-60, and do not regularly exercise (but are looking to start now).
Study Duration
12 to 24 weeks depending on group assignment
Study Benefits
You will receive a body composition analysis, measures of fitness and physical activity, 12 weeks of supervised exercise training, and financial compensation for your time.
